About the club
Our club was chartered in 1986. We have approximately 60 members, 35% of whom live in Kiel (250,000 inhabitants), with the majority living in smaller towns and villages. We prefer one inbound and one outbound Journey every year.
About the region
Kiel is the capital of the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein in the most northern part of Germany. It is situated close to the Baltic Sea and the North Sea is within a 90-minute car-drive. The lake district southeast of Kiel is famous for its beauty. Kiel canal – the link between the two seas – is always interesting for visitors. Hamburg in the south and the Danish border in the north can be reached within an hour. Neat historic towns and estates are typical for Kiel’s surroundings. Sunshine, rain and wind are most characteristic for the weather forecast at any time of the year. Hot, dry summers are still exceptional.
About the Journey
International Airport: Hamburg; 75 minutes by car or coach. Nearest airport is Hamburg (hourly coach connection at www.kielius.de). From airports Frankfurt or Berlin, it is recommended to take the fast Intercity Express ICE train to Kiel.
